My first turkey


1 12 lb turkey

2 tbsp butter, softened to room temperature

1/2 tsp sage

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper


Bunch of parsley


Preheat the oven to 325. Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity, rinse, and pat dry. Take 1 tbsp of butter and mix it with your spices. Rub this under the skin of the turkey. Rub the other tbsp all over the outer skin. Cut the lemon in half and place this and the parsley in the cavity of the turkey and secure the legs. Place the turkey in an oven bag, cutting 6 small slits in the top, tie in closed, and place in a roasting pan. Cook until the timer pops out (about 3, 3.5 hours) or the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. Let it rest for 30 minutes before carving.
